Coastline Security
I refer to a letter to the editor from Edward Amy
dated Friday March 4 2005 titled Decisive
action key. The letter could have been better constructed.
However, I strongly support the recommendation that an army reconnaissance
capability be added to the reserves in Nova Scotia to bring their
skills and natural talent to bear on our
coastline security. For all
of their beauty and charm our sparsely inhabited
shores are a serious soft spot in Canada’s
defence. Amy quite rightly points out that
this capability would broaden support for emergency search-and-rescue
operations and indeed would leave military foot prints in communities
throughout the province . To me it makes economic
sense.
